This year, Agence Laparra decided to begin its date season with the Oman origin. “It is the earliest origin. It has the advantage of arriving on the French market before Israel and Jordan. This date is shipped by plane only, which guarantees optimal freshness,” explains Eric Godard, director of Agence Laparra.
Eric offers two varieties to his clients, the Kharas and the Jebri, the main varieties from Oman. “It really is an origin that needs to be known. We are very few operators on the Rungis market who sell it. These two varieties are of very high quality. The Jebri has slightly larger fruits, which is very popular among consumers. Both varieties are produced very well. The producers in Oman are very attentive to the needs we express to them.”
Laparra received the first significant volumes of dates from Oman on Wednesday morning. “The products will now arrive daily for about two weeks, until the beginning of the campaign from Jordan. We will see how the marketing will go, but for the moment, a lot of people seem interested in the product.”
