The National Chamber of Pineapple Producers and Exporters (CANAPEP) managed to accredit itself as an Inspection Body before the Costa Rican Accreditation Body (ECA).
This makes CANAPEP the first business chamber of the country's agricultural sector to achieve this accreditation. It will allow CANAPEP to ensure the quality of its results and continuously improve. Under the INTEC-ISO / IEC 17020:2012 Standard, Canapep now has the technical competence to carry out independent evaluations on pineapple production farms, pineapple packing plants, and pineapple by-product processing plants.
This facilitates national and international trade.
"We are proud to become the first business chamber in the country to achieve this accreditation, which allows us to offer our associates and non-associated companies a more reliable mechanism to certify their processes," said Abel Chaves, president of the chamber.
The evaluations of the Technical Manual for the Sustainable Production of Pineapple (MT-PSP), under this standard, allow verifying the contracting companies' degree of compliance with environmental controls, social responsibility, occupational health, personnel training, and operational control.
CANAPEP's accreditation has been in force since March 24, 2020.
