According to Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili, the Republic of Georgia has exported about 700 tonnes of blueberries this year.
“We expect to export tens of millions of dollars worth of blueberries in the future,” said Davitashvili, when during a visit to a new blueberry plantation in the village of Nosiri, Senaki municipality.
The Interagro company planted the blueberry plantation on 10 hectares. Under the state programme Plant the Future, the company received 230,000 GEL in state funding for the cultivation of the plantation and irrigation system. The company has received 500,000 GEL in preferential agricultural credit, while 200,000 GEL is an investment of the beneficiary.
