Agrimola

New acquisition to get stronger abroad

Agrimola gets even stronger with the acquisition of "La Nuova Tradizione", a company focusing on semi-processed products for ice-cream parlors and patisseries. The company from Casalfiumanese (Bologna) - one of the leading European businesses dealing with chestnuts (fresh and processed) and frozen and semi-processed fruit - keeps on expanding.

"With this acquisition, we aid at completing the production range. The company from Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza) is known on a national level for the high-quality of its products, especially semi-processed and finished fruit products for patisseries and ice-cream parlors sold under the Vergani 1881 brand," reports Agrimola adviser Stefano Masini.

Both Agrimola and La Nuova Tradizione have an export index of 40%. The objective is to increase exports not only on a European level, but also overseas. "Agrimola aims at investing in R&D to bring about product and process innovations also in the semi-processed fruit segment."

Agrimola has been producing high-quality frozen fruit since 1978. It also deals with the processing and commercialization of chestnuts. It recently introduced a new peach processing line which, on top o removing stone fragments almost entirely, also reduces waste. Steam peach peeling was also introduced, as well as an internal purifier, perfect to process organic fruit.

The company complies with the ISO 9001 regulation. As for hygiene, quality and the health of finished products, it holds the IFS and BRC certifications (for fresh chestnuts and commercialized products). When it comes to the origin of the products supplied, Agrimola computerized the traceability of fresh and frozen fruit in particular by issuing and printing labels with a bar-code that, in addition to the product description, contain the name of the supplier, batch and weight.

Agrimola is the third investment of Fondo Agroalimentare Italiano. The companies it invests in benefit from its skills, international network and vast resources provided by its sponsor, Unigrains, i.e. the leading European investor for the agricultural and food sector for the past 55 years.
