"Just enough supply to meet the strawberry demand"

“The strawberry season has been very positive so far. We got off to a good start, although we were concerned that the corona crisis would have an impact on the strawberry market. Fortunately, this has not happened and we have had a good season so far,” says Frank Royen of Welroy Fruit.

The growing season of the strawberries goes up and down according to Frank. “We had a lot of sun in the spring, so the strawberries have grown at a good pace. Growth is now slowing somewhat, which means we can just meet demand. The quality of the strawberries is good, but the sizes are a bit less so this year. In general, there is slightly less on the plants. ”

“The home sales of the strawberries are also going well. There are many people on the road, because no one was able to go on holiday recently. So far we have had a very good season. We are curious about what the holiday period will bring, but as always we will have to wait and see,” concludes Frank.
