ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, Israel's largest cargo shipping company and one of the 20 largest shipping companies in the world, has expanded its fleet of refrigerated containers with the purchase of 500 new upgraded Star Cool units with Controlled Atmosphere (AC) that it purchased from Maersk Container Industry (MCI). This purchase supports the firm's growth in the new perishable cargo markets.
ZIMonitor Product Director, Michal Marcus, said they were very pleased to diversify their fleet of refrigerated containers with MCI's AC technology. "These advanced units are specifically suited for sensitive products such as blueberries and avocado, and will allow more customers to enjoy the benefits of ZIM's exclusive ZIMonitor service, a first-class solution for high-value sensitive loads."
The AC system is characterized by its reliability and proven technology. MCI's AC technology has in the market for over 10 years and currently accounts for 85% of the refrigerated AC systems market share and is used to transport tens of thousands of shipments worldwide each year. According to estimates, ZIM's new AC Star Cool refrigerators entered into operation in June of this year.
