Last night Peter van Dijck was appointed chairman of growers' cooperative Fossa Eugeniana U.A. at the general members' meeting. Van Dijck immediately succeeds Ton Holthuijsen, who has held this position since 1995. The Cooperative Board is pleased to have found the successor within its own ranks and thanks Ton for the many years of loyal service.
Peter van Dijck has been a board member of the cooperative since 2004, which ensures a smooth transition to the chairmanship. Mr. Holthuijsen will continue to be active for the growers' cooperative in the near future, as director of the company and advisor to the board. "With his cooperative heart, Ton has prepared a very nice growers' association for the future," says Van Dijck.
Tomato grower Holthuijsen started the company, then called Limosa in 1995, out of dissatisfaction with the auction system. In February 1998, this led to the establishment of cooperative Fossa Eugeniana B.A. Under the leadership of Holthuijsen, "Fossa" grew into a leading cooperative with an extensive and high-quality range of fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit. With room for the individual entrepreneurship of all member growers and an eye for the opportunities of a good GMO policy and far-reaching ICT integration, the cooperative is ready for the future.
