The season of Crimson grapes in the Taranto province has just started. "Harvesting will start in late July, just like in the past two years. This has been made possible thanks to Retilplast's PolyFilm-Plus."
The vineyard is located in Grottaglie (Taranto) and the entire production has already been purchased by a local trader at €1.15/kg, which is rather good if we consider that the price of non-early crops is of around €0.90-1.00/kg," explains Retilplast collaborator Dino L'Assainato.

"Compared to other Crimson grape productions, those covered with Retilplast films ripen quicker and enable the harvesting of around 80% of the fruit in a single step, thus finishing the campaign already during the second week of August. This way, not only are labor cost significantly cheaper, but sales prices are definitely more satisfactory."

"These solutions help both revenue and yields (thanks to the fact films let through UV rays). Another aspect that must be reported is the sweetness of the grapes grown under Retilplast films. Tests carried out by traders and exporters over the past two years reveal that the sugar content hovers between 27 and 30° Brix."
