As the world opens up its borders after the pandemic, canceling events is no longer the only option. Fruit Attraction has announced the event will take place in its physical form in October, but a frequent exhibitor of trade fairs has chosen not to attend any exhibitions this year.
Despite some of the trade fairs deciding to open their doors to the public again, Christina Manosis, sales manager for the Greek kiwi exporter Zeus Kiwi states their company will not exhibit on any trade fairs at all for the foreseeable future: “At this moment, with the covid-19 situation being where it is, we have decided not to exhibit on any trade fair, even if they are not canceled. The World Health Organization estimation is not looking any better for the fall and winter ahead. Unless we see some dramatic changes in the situation, we will not take any risks.”
When asked if not attending these events could have a negative effect on their sales, Manosis emphasizes the importance of digital meetings. “We hope to avoid any bad impact on our sales by using safer means of communication. This means we’ll be meeting our clients in a safe, digital way for now. Of course we are sad not to be in Madrid this year, as we’ve exhibited there for the past three years and hopefully we’ll be able to exhibit again next year!”
