Hazel Technologies partners with Dominican tropical fruits producer

"Our expectation is to consistently achieve over 30% longer shelf-life"

Hazel Technologies Inc., a USDA-funded technology company delivering new solutions for fresh produce to extend shelf-life, increase sales, and fight food waste, announced a new partnership with Holistic Solutions Global, a vertically integrated grower, exporter, and marketer of tropical fruits from the Dominican Republic.

The partnership focuses on the use of Hazel Tech® solutions with exported tropical fruits, most notably mangos. The most harvested varieties of mango in the Dominican Republic are the Keitt, an introduced variety, and the Mingolo and Banilejo varieties, which originated in the country. Mango production in the Dominican Republic has increased by over 600% since 2003, according to HSG.

“The addition of Hazel Tech® to our full line of tropical fruits is just the latest of many steps we have taken at HSG to ensure the highest product quality,” said Harvey Garcia, President of HSG, “Our expectation based on test data is to consistently achieve over 30% longer shelf-life with Hazel Tech® in our supply chain.” HSG markets the Caribe Farms, Tropicados™, and Sweet Caribe brands across North America, Europe, and Latin America.

“Expanding our international footprint is a key future focus,” said Aidan Mouat, CEO at Hazel Technologies, Inc. “Hazel® is determined to reduce waste and improve the efficiency of the perishable supply chain not just in the U.S. but across the globe.”
