CEO of Woolworths responds to Australian-made demands after ‘Made in China’ paper bag uproar

Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci has responded to new demands for more Australian-made products in stores. In his latest address to shoppers, Banducci says the supermarket is working on ways to make it easier to identify Australian products in stores.

The announcement comes as Woolworths faces ongoing backlash over its new paper bags, which have come under fire because they’re made in China. The supermarket has been inundated with complaints from shoppers unhappy with the “Made in China” stamp on the bottom of the 20-cent bags.

There is a new petition set up, calling on all the supermarkets to introduce an “Australian-made” aisle in their stores. Now Banducci has acknowledged the calls for better signage on Australian-made products, saying “it’s a challenge we’re up for”.
