Extended kiwi storage life and overall waste reduction with Bio Turbo technology

Manfredi Cold Storage, a large temperature-controlled storage company based out of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, has improved the conditions of their cold rooms. With the support of Bio Turbo technology, which they have been utilizing for the past 2 years, Manfredi has managed to minimize the level of ethylene gas in their kiwi storages.

Back in 2017, Manfredi Cold Storage tackled premature ripening and loss of firmness issues with Miatech’s patented Bio Turbo technology. Within a short time the storage conditions were improved. Ethylene and airborne pathogens were removed, cross-contamination issues solved and the overall air quality increased. What resulted is extended kiwi storage life and an overall reduction of waste.

“Manfredi Cold Storage has been using two Bio Turbo 6000 units since July 2017 at our facility in Toughkenamon, PA. We are currently storing products from over 22 countries around the world including ethylene sensitive items and ethylene producers. Currently, we are using multiple solutions to reduce and keep ethylene levels under control. Bio Turbo is one of the solutions implemented and it helps us to achieve our goal of keeping our coolers ethylene-free”, says  Rob Wharry, Director of Operations at Manfredi companies.

Bio Turbo is a patented technology for cleaning the air from all sorts of airborne organic compounds. Bio Turbo effectively removes ethylene gas (to prevent premature ripening), bacteria, mold spores and viruses. What differentiates Bio Turbo from competitors is its affordability and the ease of maintenance making it a great solution for commercial applications.
