Spanish scientists study the possible use of purple garlic from Las Pedroñeras against COVID-19

The Provincial Government of the Spanish province of Cuenca has reported that it will soon sign an agreement with the University of Castile-La Mancha (UCLM) to grant 30,000 Euro to a research project that is studying the possible benefits of purple garlic from Las Pedroñeras against COVID-19. The project is being directed by doctors Ignacio Gracia and Juan Francisco Rodríguez.

The study will investigate the anti-inflammatory properties of purple garlic from Cuenca, which could act as a procoagulant in the most severe cases, in which the virus causes thrombi in patients.

The Provincial Government of Cuenca has confidence in the results that this study could reveal. According to its president, Álvaro Martínez Chana, "if the pandemic has shown us something, it is that we have to support the scientific community."
