"The production season of Chinese loquat is almost over and the price is rather low"

Loquats from Suzhou currently enter the Chinese market in large volumes, but the production season is almost over. Mr. Rao Zhenghua of Suzhou City Wuzhong District Dongshan Longzhen Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. recently shared his analysis of current conditions in the Chinese loquat industry: "The sales of our loquat from this production season officially started on the 5th of May. That is slightly earlier than last year. That is the result of relatively high temperatures this year. We entered the peak of the supply period last week, and we expect the season to finish this weekend."

"This year the price of loquat was much lower than analyses predicted. The main reason for this development is the pandemic. The outbreak of Covid-19 reduced fruit consumption. The current price of loquat is around 28 yuan [3.91 USD] per 0.5 kg. The sugar content of our loquat was quite high, more than 15, because the loquat received plentiful sunshine. In the end, however, market demand was quite strong and our sales went smoothly."

Mr. Rao Zhenghua invested in a new packaging method that will help him further develop online sales and express delivery. This will make it more convenient for consumers to purchase loquat. "The new package received great market feedback. We are particularly careful with our packaging methods because loquat easily damage during transport. This new package helps us avoid damage during transport and guarantees that our clients will receive the highest quality. This season is almost over. We hope that next season will be even better. We hope to further expand the Chinese loquat market."
