In the meantime, Sipo launches Made in Italy jackdaws

After peak sales, vegetables have now slowed down

After the peaks in sales in March, the situation is now back to near normal and purchases from the large-scale retail trade are below average. "The number of requests between the beginning of March and 20 April was high," said Massimiliano Ceccarini, general manager of Sipo. "We tried to meet everyone's needs in the best possible way. From 20 April onwards, things have been downtrending slowly but steadily. Now the sales are very low, for almost all the references".

Sipo's jackdaws, grown in Italy

Among the products that catch the consumer's eye are jackdaws. Sipo has recently launched the Italian product on the market, which stands out for its high quality. During winter and spring, the most available product is the one of North African origin, at a lower price, as well as in quality. However, it is now possible to stock up on flat beans, produced and packaged in Italy.

"Our flat beans are packed in Flowpack of 500 grams and in bulk in a 5 kg box - specified Ceccarini. The piattoni are a variety of green beans with a long, flat shape, light green in color, also named corallo or taccole (jackdaw) and are known by many people as 'edible beans', because they are entirely edible, since they do not need to be shelled for consumption."

They are tender and yet remain crisp, with an intense but delicate taste and satiate without adding too many calories. They should not only be consumed for their organoleptic profile, but also for their nutritional value. In addition to a high content of vegetable proteins that makes them perfect as a substitute for meat, they are rich in fiber, potassium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin C and K.

"I believe that  during this phase our entire supply chain should appreciate and enhance even more the Made in Italy brand - concluded Ceccarini - We have to find a way out of this dramatic economic situation and only by all rowing together will we be able to lift the country up again."
