"The trust placed in our producers' organization by a Calabrian grower of golden onions boosts our confidence and makes us proud. The producer has, indeed, decided to confer his top quality product, so that our PO can start commercializing it as early as this year" - said Vincenzo Sorace, sales manager of the PO Monte di Polistena (RC).
"The Calabrian golden onions have already entered the German market in recent years, with encouraging results. It is therefore a product already well known in Germany and that our PO would like to further commercialize on both the German and European markets, given the volume of product available - pointed out Sorace - We started calibrating the early Spring Star variety and, afterwards, we will continue the campaign with other cultivars, until summer."
With regard to quality, the product is excellent and has a good shelf life, thanks to the weather of the past few months. It has been certified GlobalGAP and Grasp, and it is available in different sizes (5-6 and 6-8 on average). It is processed in the warehouse of Agricola Veltri in Falerna (CZ), a member of the PO Monte since 1 January, 2018 specialized in the production of red onions of Tropea Calabria PGI.
