The Pineapple is one of the most popular fruits for consumers in the Chinese market. This fruit is produced widely across China, with Taiwan being a major producer boasting a huge production.
"Compared with previous years, the market of Taiwanese pineapples in Mainland China is rather weak this year, mainly due to the COVID-19 outbreak that has been ongoing since the traditional holiday of Spring Festival. In addition, intensified competition has also put pressure on the market. However, a small number of companies that have remained good quality, established brands, built production centers, and unified harvesting standards over the years are still able to maintain growth and win the trust of consumers.
"We have exported additional volumes of pineapples to Japan this year, a market that we have been supplying for four years, as there is also a high demand for our product marketed under the Shitoudi brand.” Mr. Lin of Taiwan Nongyiyuan Co., Ltd. shared.
This is the seventh year that Mr. Lin has marketed Taiwanese pineapples under the Shitoudi brand. In the past few years, he has established a good brand image and gained a higher market awareness.
“The most important thing for achieving success is our insistence on product quality. Our customers know very well what kind of pineapples to expect from us. This is the goal that we want to achieve and maintain with our brand. In order to obtain a better market share, some pineapple sellers put unripe products on the market, which is proven to be a bad decision.
"When product quality is wanting, sales performance will not be ideal, as it will not get positive responses from consumers and will also damage their trust. Therefore, we always wait for the fruit to reach its optimal ripeness and focus on the quality even if it may be more profitable to bring the fruit to the market earlier. We have our own growing center and can strictly control each process, which is also a great advantage. In this way, we are always able to achieve our goal with effective quality control. "
“In addition, we are one of the few pioneers that market ripe yellow pineapples. Traditionally, traders purchase green pineapples as many believe that it is too risky to harvest at 80% ripe before selling to the market. However, We do not agree with this view and have introduced more ripe yellow pineapples to the market. Over the years, we have accumulated a lot of experience. We wait until the ripeness reaches about 80% before starting harvest, which has led to greatly improved taste and has made our product popular with consumers.
"Although we offer the same variety, golden diamond, the market acceptance of our brand is very high, and this difference in quality is one of the reasons. I hope that more Taiwanese pineapple sellers will achieve this goal through more attention and research on the quality of their products, and work together to make pineapple a synonym for high-quality fruit from Taiwan."
