Agricultural unemployment in Spain falls by 10.6% in first quarter

According to data from the Active Population Survey (EPA), provided on Tuesday 28 by the National Statistics Institute (INE) of Spain, in the first quarter of 2020, agricultural unemployment fell by 10.6%. This means 19,700 fewer people unemployed during this period, with the total number in the sector now standing at 164,300 people.

In the last twelve months, the total number of people unemployed has dropped by 9,300 people, which entails a 5.3% reduction.

Meanwhile, in this first quarter, the number of people employed in agriculture has decreased by 9,100 people, which represents a drop of 1.1%. Thus, there are currently a total of 784,800 people employed in this sector.

Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, there has been a 6.5% drop in the number of people employed, with 54,900 fewer people.
