"The strawberry sector is not stopping despite the current health emergency and, while harvesting is continuing, we are already thinking about the next campaign. We have set up around 100 hectares of greenhouses, 70 of which in Poland and 30 in Spain. We planted the new Rossetta® (NSG 120), Marabella® (NSG 203) and Gioelita® (NSG 207) varieties as well as the Melissa cultivar," explains Pasquale Casalnuovo, legal representative of Primi Frutti di Policoro (Matera), a company commercializing strawberries and propagating plants.

"Nurseries should produce around 60 million fresh plants which will be uprooted in late September and shipped to strawberry growers in the south. We expect around 850 hectares with varieties patented by Nova Siri Genetics, a research and testing company located in Basilicata. Producers and the market have shown particular interest for the new NSG varieties, which will be commercialized under the Rossetta®, Gioelita® and Marabella® brands."
Rossetta® plants (NSG120).
"While Rossetta® is the "Premium Price" variety that stood out on the market for being early and due to its unique organoleptic qualities, Gioelita®, Marabella® and Melissa have been rather popular with producers in Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily for their rusticity, earliness and shelf-life. What is more, these are largely employed in organic and integrated crops."
"Plants produced by Primi Frutti are obtained with innovative crop techniques by highly specialized personnel and boasting phytosanitary certifications. Our material guarantees excellent-quality staggered productions."
