The red garlic from Sulmona season is going well. Aglio D'Alessandro grows it on 55 hectares in the Abruzzo territory. "This year we went from 40 to 55 hectares as demand in 2019 was high and we had already run out of produce in December," reports Vittorio D'Alessandro.

The objective for 2020/21 is to meet demand at least until March 2021. This will be made possible thanks to both the additional hectares and the new storage units.

"The campaign is going well at the moment, as the weather has been good. We are getting organized when it comes to labor as well, and luckily we have enough workforce for normal crop operations."

Red garlic from Sulmona stands out on the market. "In 2019, the entire production was sold in packets under our own brand, which helps our produce stand out. 125 gram nets are the most popular in retail stores and they contain 3 or 4 garlic heads."
