New packaging for Tomabel strawberries

The consumer loves Belgian strawberries. That is why the quality label Tomabel will introduce new packaging for its red summer kings this Monday, April 20.

Tomabel and strawberry producer Sien Vermeulen from Passendale

The transition from spring to summer has been in the air for some time at the REO Auction. The supplied volumes of Tomabel strawberries are increasing day by day. "Tomabel strawberries are not just refreshing in their beauty and quality. Moreover, the shiny juicy sweet treats are picked carefully and at the ideal moment so that their delicious aroma is optimally preserved. All of them will be held and presented securely and beautifully in the new Tomabel Packaging from this Monday, April 20."

Tomabel chairman Henk Vandevelde: “The new strawberry box is part of our new house style that will be introduced step by step. In this way, all Tomabel products will be given a new look during the year. We are convinced that a strong and clearly recognisable product presentation offers added value to our products, which is why we opted for a simple, yet attractive design for the new Tomabel packaging, in which our high-quality product is and remains the eye-catcher. ”

The Tomabel logo was also given a thorough makeover. “We have opted for a universal logo. It is clearly recognisable both at home and abroad. We noticed that some consumers misunderstood our name because the text in our old logo was superimposed. That is a thing of the past with this clear logo ”, Henk Vandevelde remarks.

Tomabel strawberry producer Lieven Vanhaverbeke is also enthusiastic about the rebranding of the strawberry box: “For me this is a rather neutral box, which I find positive because our product comes into its own better. But it is certainly also an attractive and classy packaging that will catch the eye of the buyer-consumer. ” Lieven is chair of the strawberry working group within Tomabel. “The April-June period is the busiest period for us. During this period, approximately 50% of the full year's production is supplied to the REO Auction. That is why now is the ideal time to start using our new strawberry box,” says Lieven.

At the REO Auction, strawberries were the 3rd best-selling product after tomatoes and leeks last year. The supply of strawberries at the REO Auction traditionally comes at full speed by Mother's Day. “That is why it is no coincidence that we organise a strawberry counting competition around Mother's Day in collaboration with the Krant van West-Vlaanderen. The counting competition also takes place this year. Keep an eye on it! Because six winners will receive delicious fresh Flandria, Tomabel and Fine Fleur strawberries as a gift,” concludes Dominiek Keersebilck, commercial director of the REO Veiling.
