The lemon is an important fruit in the international market. More and more consumers are looking for fruits rich in vitamin C during this growing COVID-19 pandemic, because consumers believe that vitamin C will aid their immune system. Mr. Wang Guolong from Chongqing Huida Lemon Technology Group recently analysed current conditions in the Chinese lemon market: "Market demand for lemons is much higher than around this time last year, almost double. The majority of the demand comes from overseas clients. The demand from the Middle East showed particularly rapid growth. The outbreak of corona virus has been brought under control in China and domestic market demand is quite stable, with no significant growth."
"The current changes in market demand lead to frequent price fluctuations. This week the price of lemons is 13 USD per box. It is still too early to tell how the price will develop later this season. However, the current price is quite good. Many Chinese companies have completely recovered and the overall condition has much improved. Distribution proceeds smoothly and there is no problem with transport to Southeast Asia. Some of the shipments to the Middle East sometimes encounter delays. However, the majority of our shipments arrive on time. Demand from Southeast Asia is higher than last year, but not as high as demand from the Middle East."
"Our lemon production facilities are located in Tongnan in Chongqing. While we manage our own facilities, we also cooperate with local farmers. Our production volume expanded by 30%-40% in comparison with last year. This is mainly because newly cultivated trees have started to bear fruit this year. We have a lot of experience with lemon export. We have established our own 'Huida' brand to help us open up new markets and supply top-quality lemons to even more overseas clients. We hope to become a household name in the lemon market."
