"After the last snowfall, I was very worried about the results because I feared damage caused by the frosts, but on Wednesday morning, on my way to the farm, I found no problems nor anomalies in my cherry orchards" - said Ruggiero Granieri, owner of the eponymous farm located in Barletta (Bari).
"On the roof structure stood about 3-4 cm piles of snow. The cherries, as well as the plants, did not suffer any injury. This is a plant of the Black Star variety in the first year of fruiting, covered with the innovative Retilplast solutions, whose installation was completed in the first ten days of February."
"There was no frost, as the temperature inside the facility was 3°C, while in other countries the temperature was even below zero. This not only allowed me to secure the harvest, but also to anticipate ripening. As a matter of fact, I will start harvesting my first cherries, which have now reached the veraison stage, in about 15 days, counting on interesting prices. In the next few days, peaks of over 20°C are expected in our country. As a result, the temperature inside the structure could reach even 27-30°C. If this occurs, it will be necessary to open the central air ventilation corridor, one of the useful solutions provided by Retilplast covers, to ensure and control air circulation."
