Bolivia seizes trucks used to smuggle fruit from Peru

Bolivian authorities seized three trucks and two vehicles that were smuggling fruits and other products from Peru. The vehicles were seized in a joint operation between the National Agricultural Food Health and Safety Service (SENASAG) and Bolivia's Strategic Operational Command (CEO) to prevent the entry of illegal products into the country.

The Deputy Minister of Lands, Gustavo Terrazas, stated that, after the seized fruits are classified, the fruit that is suitable for consumption will be delivered to the Mayor's office of Viacha so it can be distributed to shelters in the face of the emergency due to the coronavirus.

"We found a diversity of products. One of the trucks was transporting watermelon, another one was moving mango, custard apple, passion fruit, and some other dehydrated fruits," he said.
