Prices of EU produced bananas were relatively high at the end of 2019

The European Commission has published a report showing the prices of bananas imported from Latin America over the last five years. Other tabs in the report show the prices of yellow bananas produced in Europe itself. For even more detailed numbers, the report shows the average wholesale prices of bananas per country, both imported from Latin America as well as the ones produced in Europe. The report clearly shows 2019 was an exceptional year, with prices being over 60 per cent higher than the years before in weeks 41 to 51.
