The letter Alessandro Dal Bello from Dal Bello SIFE is sending to all Dutch operators getting in touch with the daily price lists of exotic fruit, basically says that we need more solidarity in Europe, otherwise there will be serious economic consequences and not only in the countries more at risk when it comes to Covid-19.

Every letter starts as follows: "I receive the daily lists with real pleasure and I hope to continue receiving them. You can send them because, at least within the European Union, there is freedom of movement for people and goods. Over the years, your company has managed to grow also thanks to the Spanish, French and Italian businesses that have purchased your products. Now, most of the nations where you commercialize your fruit is dealing with a health emergency. Every government is employing economic resources to tackle the situation, but they will not be enough to go back to normal. It will take much more money than we imagine and that is why we need Europe to be united and supportive."
"The Dutch government is refusing the issue of Covid-Bonds and is placing European unity and, therefore, your own existence in serious danger. If Europe does not maintain a united front, commerce will not return to normal as there will be resentment towards those that did not have the heart of helping the nations in difficulty. We Italians, the Spaniards, the French, all of us, believe in European unity and expect a more tangible solidarity from you Dutch and the Germans."
"What I am asking, if you can, is to lobby the Prime Minister of the Netherlands not to oppose the issue of European bonds. Make him change his mind! By doing so, you will not only help the economies of the nations most affected by Covid, but your company as well, as you will be able to continue commercializing produce all over Europe."
