The mixed cargo ship Dole Africa has once again incorporated Costa Rica as one of its transit stops on the Colombia-Belgium route, after suspending arrivals on January 21, 2019. There, it will load bananas and pineapple for export for the European market.
The ship mobilized a total of 73,920 boxes of bananas and pineapple in the Port of Limon, where it also unloaded empty containers. The fruit load is expected will increase in the Port of Limon starting May as the pineapple and melon season develops.
The executive president of the Board of Port Administration and Economic Development of the Atlantic Slope of Costa Rica, JAPDEVA, Andrea Centeno, said that, as part of this operation, the company had generated dozens of jobs in its production farms, in the transport companies, and in the stevedoring companies.
Centeno added that the institution maintained its operations as part of the public services that must be maintained in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and guaranteed that they had implemented special prevention protocols in coordination with health authorities.
