The Valencian company Agrozono, leader in the application of ozone through localized irrigation for the regeneration of agricultural soils, has offered public administrations five large mobile units of ozone generation equipment to help in the disinfection tasks being carried out in various Spanish municipalities to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The restrictions and prohibitions that have been affecting the use of chemical materials for fumigation in recent years, which resulted, for example, in the disappearance of methyl bromide, led to the promotion of ozone as an alternative. This gave rise to the company Agrozono, which has developed its own ozone generation technology.
The company points out that ozone "is the most powerful oxidizing substance known; 33% more effective than hypochlorous acid and 100% superior to hypochlorite (bleach). It has a strong virucidal action and various scientific studies show that with doses of between 0.5 and 0.8 ppm / liter of water and contact times of less than 3 minutes, viruses are inactivated and left without infective capacity."
All that is needed is a sufficient water flow and an electrical connection. Ozone (three oxygen atoms) is generated by electric shocks. Once the ozonated water is released on a surface, in 15 or 20 minutes (depending on the temperature) it becomes water with a high amount of oxygen that will return to the atmosphere without leaving any kind of residue.
