Orders for Chinese garlic from Europe drop sharply

The market situation for garlic has changed rapidly in the past few weeks. During the traditional Chinese New Year holidays, garlic exports have declined due to factories shutting down for the holidays. Since then, the COVID-19 outbreak has led to a further downward trend in exports and it took a while before factories were back in production. The supply of garlic had begun to fall in many countries, and the situation intensified. Recently, the situation in China has been largely recovered. The factories have begun to resume work, and most garlic factories can resume production and export.

Ms. Annie Chen, Sales Manager of Jining Fenduni Foodstuff Co., Ltd., explained the current market situation: "At this stage, the situation in China has stabilized and exports can proceed normally. We export globally and Europe is one of our main export regions. With the current situation in Europe, the overall order of garlic is very small, but we still receive some new orders, so demand is still there. For other countries, the market is much better and demand is very high."

"Due to the current large demand, prices are also quite high and have been rising recently. However, this situation will not last long. According to my estimates, prices will drop a little again in mid-April. A lot of countries could not import garlic for a few weeks, so they are short on supply now and that is why the demand is so high. Even some countries in Africa who have never ordered our garlic have suddenly started to place orders. This shows the urgency in countries looking for garlic supplies."

"Under our own brand 'Fenduni', we strive to supply high-quality garlic to all our customers. We have more than 20 years of experience in this industry, and we are familiar with the characteristics of various garlic needs from customers in different overseas markets, which makes us a very flexible and reliable trader. In addition to Europe, our current export markets include Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Although China's virus outbreak is now under control, we  still attach great importance to our workers' safety. We ensure that everyone adheres to the strict guidelines on the health and safety measures. Because we are responsible not only for providing our customers with high-quality products, but also for the safety of our employees. "
