Between January and February 2020, Turkey exported 442,000 tons of citrus for $ 228 million. As highlighted by the president of the National Citrus Council Kemal Kaçmaz, this figure represents a significant increase compared to the 399,000 tons worth US $ 170 million that were exported in the same period of last year.
Kaçmaz stated that exports to the European countries continued very positively and added: “Last year we exported 8,000 tons to Poland and this year we've exported 16,000 tons there. We exported 3,000 tons to Germany, and now we've exported more than 5,000 tons to that market. There has been an increase in the export of mandarin, orange, and grapefruit.”
Kemal Kaçmaz said that in the past two years the bulk of exports went to Russia, Ukraine, Iraq, Romania, and Poland.
