The partnership between Fyffes and Fruchtimport vanWylick goes back to 2011 when Fyffes acquired one third of the business. Fyffes has worked during this time with its valued partners and shareholders in vanWylick, Capespan and Gemüsering, who have agreed to sell their shareholding in vanWylick to Fyffes. Fyffes is looking forward to continuing to work with Capespan and Gemüsering.
Fyffes will now own 74% of the business and 26% will be held by the Allerding family. This purchase strengthens the relationship between Fyffes and vanWylick and will enable Fyffes to deliver better services to its customers.
vanWylick, with a turnover of €272 million and 300 employees, handles over 300,000 tonnes of fresh produce annually, including over eight million boxes of bananas. vanWylick has a national offering with eight ripening depots, including a recent depot acquisition in Stuttgart and adheres to the highest standards of quality, efficiency and sustainability. The company has invested in highly efficient and modern facilities and technology and in the past four years built new facilities in Cologne and Munich.
vanWylick remains an independent operation and Fyffes is proud to work with Managing Directors, Dirk and Jens Allerding, who will remain as leaders of the business.
The transaction is subject to merger clearance by the European Commission, DG Competition.
