Revolution Farms launches new package design in stores across Michigan

Revolution Farms, the largest indoor hydroponics farms in Michigan, is launching a new packaging and identity platform in stores across the state this week. The new packs contains the farm’s four current packaged lettuce and salad blends under new product names. Updated package designs feature the company’s freshness seal and the date of harvest on every package.

Most visible on Revolution Farms’ new packages are the bright, colorful freshness seals wrapped around each container, symbolizing the vibrancy of the farm’s lettuce, and distinguishing the four different products. Every seal includes the standard “Enjoy By:” date, as well as the bold, “Harvested Date,” to directly indicate the freshness of Revolution Farms lettuce, from harvest to shelf in hours, not weeks.

“As much as we are innovating the way lettuce is grown all year long, we are innovating packaging that more effectively tells the Revolution Farms’ story and our commitment to serving the freshest, most sustainable, best tasting lettuce and greens that are ‘better than organic’,” said John Green, Revolution Farms founder and CEO. “The new design ensures consumers can quickly identify our lettuce on the shelves, and immediately see our promises to them: local, fresh and nutritious.”

The Revolution Farms freshness seal also includes the Pure Michigan logo, signifying the lettuce as 100 percent Michigan-grown at its Caledonia greenhouse, all year long. On the back of the package, customers learn more about how the product is grown, including pesticide residue-free and non-GMO certifications.

Revolution Farms’ 85,000 sq.ft facility, located on 76th St in Caledonia, has capacity to produce up to 500,000 pounds of fresh salads for Michigan and the Midwest every year. The lettuce goes from farm to store in 1-2 days, less than half the time it takes for lettuce grown on the West Coast to make it to Michigan store shelves.

Revolution Farms salad mixes include Michigan Spring Mix, Great Lakes Gourmet, Robust Romaine and Buttery Bibb. Revolution Farms lettuce is currently available at SpartanNash stores across Michigan, including Forest Hills Foods, D&W Fresh Market, VG’s and Family Fare stores, as well as independent retailers. Its lettuce and greens are distributed to restaurants and commercial businesses through its wholesale partnerships including Gordon Food Service and Van Eerden.
