According to the 'Treaty between the General Administration of Customs China and the US Ministry of Agriculture with regard to inspection and quarantine of US nectarine exports to China' as well as other relevant laws and regulations, US nectarines have now obtained permission to enter the Chinese market. This new policy was implemented on the 4th of March.
This new policy allows 5 production areas in California to export to China, these areas are: Fresno, Tulare, Kern, Kings and Madera. Only
certified orchards and packaging houses are allowed to export to China. They should be in line with the Chinese phytosanitary requirements, which them include a traceability system for the orchards and packaging houses, orchard management, packing houses and packaging regulations etc. Please consult the official announcement for more detailed information (in Chinese).
