Higher demand allows Polish potato prices to increase

The first days of March brought positive changes to the situation in the Polish wholesale potato market. Producers talk about a marked increase in the demand in this segment, as reported by analysts of the EastFruit project citing the fresh-market website.

Potatoes in Poland are being sold for $ 0.19-0.26 / kg, which is on average 13% more expensive than at the end of the previous working week.

Worthy of note is that this appreciation has been observed only in the quality products segment. According to producers, the vast majority of stocks in Polish farms at the moment consist of substandard potatoes. The supply of higher quality local products is currently quite limited.

Also worth mentioning is that the price of potatoes in Poland is still on average 18% lower than at the beginning of March 2019. At the same time, market operators believe that a rapid increase of potato prices is not likely to happen.
