Avocados From Mexico partners with Dietitians of Canada

Canada: Spotlight on avocados for 2020 Nutrition Month

Avocados from Mexico is renewing its collaboration with Dietitians of Canada for a fourth consecutive year, as sponsor of the 2020 Nutrition Month campaign. Through the whole month of March, Avocados from Mexico will make it its mission to encourage Canadians to adopt a healthy and balanced diet, thanks to a national influence campaign.

Spotlight on good fats
There are many factors that make avocados a “Super Food.” However, one of the most important ones is its high proportion of unsaturated fats, also known as “good fats.” In addition to contributing to the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients such as vitamins A, D, K and E, avocados are cholesterol-free and sodium-free. With their unctuous, creamy texture, avocados are also a great substitute for butter, oil or cream.

Media partnerships with Canadian Living Magazine and the National Post will provide an in-depth opportunity to show Canadians the importance of good fats and the heart health benefits that avocados provide.

In March, Avocados from Mexico will also be counting on the engagement of their loyal brand ambassadors to educate Canadians about the nutritional benefits of the fruit. Hubert Cormier, dietitian, author and speaker in Québec; Erin Ireland, founder of the To Die For
bakery in Vancouver; and Laura Wright, author and food blogger in Ontario have been entrusted with a mission: creating exclusive Nutrition Month content and articles to encourage their communities to make the fruit part of a healthy and diversified diet.

Cook more often, thanks to digital channels
To demonstrate the fruit’s versatility, Avocados from Mexico created a series of 12 new exclusive recipes, approved by Dietitians of Canada and made available to consumers and nutrition professionals via the Cookspiration app.

The brand strongly believes in the importance of home cooking and takes advantage of social media (Facebook and Instagram) to provide its community with many healthy and easy-to-make recipes. To encourage Canadians to make their own lunches and avoid fast food, Avocados from Mexico is organizing contests across the country to offer a chance to win Bento lunch boxes.
