Italian fruit pitting technology

"Our company specializes in the manufacture of machinery for the food processing industry - pitting machines for peaches, apricots, avocados, pears and apples in particular - and in the design of complete processing lines," explains Biagio Crescenzo, CEO of CTI FoodTech.

Biagio Crescenzo

"We are available on all international markets and are the second leading peach pitting machine producer per number of units installed and kg of fruit processes. With a complete range of machines for all kinds of production needs, CTI FoodTech is the only company capable of supplying all kinds of peach pitting technologies. Since 1986, we have filed over 100 patents in 20 countries worldwide."

It is estimated that the machines installed by CTI FootTech process over 7 billion fruits every year. 40% of peaches processed in the world are pitted with these machines. These are record figures for a small Italian company and have been reached thanks to engineer Biagio Crescenzo, who identified innovation and internationalization as the assets that could make the company grow in a volatile market subject to geopolitical change.

"In the 1990s, we started working with JBT (called FMC FoodTech back then), which chose CTI FoodTech as its strategic partner. In 2008, this partnership strengthened with the transfer of the Peach Line division to CTI FoodTech. Our efforts to search for new opportunities to expand have led us to conquering new market shares all over the world: from Spain to China and from Greece to South America."

2019 was a good year for the company: after winning the Best Practices Award for Innovation for the project on "300 AVC" (the best performing avocado pitter in the world), it was selected among the ten finalists of the Innovation Award at Fruit Logistica 2019.

Last October the company inaugurated the new headquarters. The facility covers 7,000 sq m and required an investment of over €6 million. It is part of an industrial development strategic plan that envisages an expansion of the market and technological modernization.

At the 2019 edition of CibusTec in Parma, CTI FoodTech showcased its latest machines including the CTI-FAS multifruit, multiformat and multistandard feeder, which was awarded in December as a SMAU 2019 innovation, the 300-AVC avocado pitter and the new patented peach pitter system "Zero Pit Gragment". The company stand was branded with the slogan "Wherever there's a fruit to pit, we'll be there".

CTIFoodTech invests all of its profit margin in R&D. For the past few years, it has been collaborating with various research organizations and universities. Together with Tomra, it has innovated the processing of apples and peaches by combining peeling and pitting (Zero Pit Fragment, apple coring and peach coring).
