The general manager of the Peruvian company Complejo Agroindustrial Beta, Lionel Arce Orbegozo, stated that, according to their projections, the company will export 10,000 tons of Hass avocado this year, i.e. 150% more than the 4,000 tons they shipped in 2019.
The main destinations would be Europe, the United States, and Asia. However, Arce Orbegozo said they would have to see how the Asian market responds because of the uncertainty generated in China by the coronavirus outbreak.
He said that Beta had 800 hectares of Hass avocado, 600 hectares of which are located between Olmos and Jayanca (Lambayeque) and 200 hectares in Chincha (Ica).
