Pascal Desessard, ULMA Packaging France:

“Our packaging system reduces the volume of salad bags”

ULMA Packaging has developed the “Tight Bag” packaging system, initially intended for frozen products, fresh herbs and salads. Pascal Desessard, director of ULMA Packaging France, explains that the main advantage of this system is the extraction of air, which helps reduce the volume of the bag. “It makes it possible to maximize the amount of bags per crate.”

The degree of air extraction is adjustable using a control touch screen. It is possible to save up to 15% of space in the boxes. This way, the system can help reduce logistics costs. Excess air in packaging without perforations is reduced thanks to a patented jaw design.

The video above shows a Vertical VTI packer equipped with the Tight Bag system. Thanks to the suctioning of air, products do not get jammed.

The packers equipped with the Tight Bag system can reach a speed of 90 packaged items per minute, while controlling the amount of air extracted from the bag. There is no loss of moisture and no oxidation.
