Sergey Derkach, the commercial representative of a Russian company in Argentina that specializes in the implementation of projects, stated that the Patagonian province of Tierra del Fuego, the coldest region in the country, is interested in Russian technologies for the cultivation of vegetables.
"We have brought the technology of a Russian company to grow vegetables in severe weather conditions; the company has experience in implementing several projects in Siberia," said Derkach.
He also said that most of the vegetables that arrive in Tierra del Fuego are brought from the continent. "The authorities decided to grow vegetables, for example, to supply ships and cruises," he added.
The capital of the province, Ushuaia, is a popular place among tourists who leave for Antarctica. Each year, many cruise ships, private yachts, and ships take tourists from this port to the Antarctic continent.
