Prices in ginger production areas in China volatile

Industries in China are gradually resuming production or business, and the trading situation in key ginger production areas has also improved. Main production areas in the north have started to trade washed ginger, although some markets are only semi-open. Judging from the volume on the market, the supply is considerable, but as transportation has not been fully restored yet, most traders from other regions cannot travel to these areas, and end markets have not been fully open, so the demand cannot keep up. In general, traders make purchases on-demand, so over the past few days, prices are volatile - they fall when the supply is large and stabilize when there is a stable supply.

As the number of non-local traders is limited, farmers in the production areas mainly see local customers sporadically making purchases, and the volume is limited. Ginger seed trading has also begun.

In terms of exports, due to high ginger prices in China, export orders are limited. Processing plants are mainly exhausting their own supply and there is limited demand in obtaining supplies from markets and farmers. Moreover, as necessary disinfection and protection conditions are required in resuming production, some export processing plants are not yet fully operational.
