“The citrus market is currently fairly well balanced. There is sufficient demand, but there is slightly less citrus available this year than last year. We can meet demand, but the prices are on the high side," says Luc Rodiers from wholesale Rodiers. “There is currently a lot of demand for Nadorcott and Tango mandarins. We are also very satisfied with the quality of the fruit this year."
Rodiers has been part of Group A. De Witte since 2018: Jurgen De Witte, Luc Rodiers, Achiel De Witte, Dominique and Domien Rodiers, Alco Kappé
20 years ago wholesaler Rodiers decided to distinguish itself in citrus and created the private label Señorita. “Cibel citrus is currently in high demand due to its high quality. Our customers are mainly the better end supermarkets, catering and specialty shops and only want the best quality, "says Luc. "We have minneola tangelo at the moment a Turkish product of Cebon, but next week we are switching over to Californian minneolas"
“Due to the fairly mild winter weather, the sale of winter vegetables is somewhat disappointing, unlike fruit. We currently also sell grapes very well at this stage. This year we only work with Peru, because we were not so satisfied with the quality of the South African grapes.
There are fewer grapes on the market this year, which means that for class 1, but also for the lesser quality, the prices are on the high side," concludes Rodiers.
