The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Jorge Montenegro Chavesta, stated that in 2019 Peruvian fresh blueberry exports amounted to 820 million dollars, showing a growth of 48% over the previous year. As a result, Peru became the main supplier of blueberries worldwide in 2019, surpassing Chile which had exports worth 693 million dollars.

Montenegro stressed that the main markets for Peruvian blueberries were: the United States, which accounted for 57% of the total, the Netherlands 22%, China 8%, and England 8%.

"These four countries (the United States, the Netherlands, China, and England) accounted for 95% of the total exported in 2019," added Minister Montenegro.
