Refrigerated storage capacity will double

The Agro Merchants Group is to expand one of its Dutch facilities

The Agro Merchants Group has announced plans to expand one of its facilities. This concerns their cooling warehouse on the Maasvlakte. This site is located in the Port of Rotterdam. This strategic investment will increase the facility's total capacity. It will bring it up to more than 35,000 pallet spaces. The facility's border inspection point will also be expanded. Both of these are currently running at full steam.

This Dutch facility opened its doors in December 2016. It quickly reached full capacity. It, therefore, demonstrated the high demand on the Rotterdam market. Rotterdam is Europe's biggest container port. It is also the first port of call for most major shipping companies. That makes Rotterdam harbor a leading import/export hub for perishable goods.

Construction of the expansion is expected to start in April. The enlarged border inspection point should be operational by the third quarter of the year. The extension of the refrigerated storage is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
