Dutch company, Hars & Hagebauer, launches new website, www.theavocadotrader.com

"In the last year, we have grown to become a meeting point for buyers and sellers"

"We are not actually doing anything different from what we have always been doing," says Henk van der Meij of Hars & Hagebauer. This is in connection with this Dutch company's launching of the www.theavocadotrader.com website. “We are a market place for avocado buyers and sellers from all over the world."

“The avocado market has been characterized by major ups and downs in recent years," says Ad Toet. “At times, there are far too few avocados, at other times, far too many. Over the last year, we have increasingly grown to become a meeting place for buyers and sellers. We are not trying to imitate the large, reputable importers."

"We focus our daily activities on batches of avocados that are being offered to us from all over. We then sell these to our clients in different quantities - from one pallet to containers full. These are often very nice CAT 1, and regularly also CAT II, fruit.  We have our own weekly imports."

"But, the lion's share of our business is avocados from a large group of domestic and overseas importers and traders. One week, one of these parties have too many; the next, it is another that has too much product. We then sell these avocados to our network. This 'trading' in avocados has become a bit of a specialty," says Ad.

"It benefits the suppliers to be able to get an official quality report directly after the fruit has arrived. They get this from our permanent Surveyor GoodAcre. Everyone then knows exactly what is going on. If we know what a batch of avocados offers, we pay for it right away. That assures suppliers, who know we pay quickly. Do you have, or are you looking for avocados? You are welcome to mail or phone us," concludes Ad.
