Ethylene management products provide solutions for ripening and degreening

Fresh Produce Instruments now supplies a versatile product line for ethylene management. Solutions for fresh fruit and vegetable ethylene application is now available through the company with ethylene generators, citrus generators for ethylene application, ripening concentrate, and gas analysers.

Ethylene is a critical element for fresh produce. Highly needed when ripening or degreening, a menace when you want to keep your produce fresh. From this, the ethylene generators supplied by the company are designed specifically to only make as much ethylene as needed for the target room. The Easy-Ripe® Generator and Citrus Generator provide consistent, non-pressurised ethylene on a continual basis in order to achieve uniform ripening and degreening. Additionally, these generators are equipped with remote control options from ethylene sensors or PLC units. This solution features compliance from TÜV SÜD, and CE.

Both generators utilize Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate which comes in liter bottles. Each bottle of Ethy-Gen® II makes 0.365 cubic meters of ethylene, enough to ripen several loads of fruit. As a result of ethylene application, the unique formula of Ethy-Gen® II ensures there are no residues as a result of our ethylene application. Ethy-Gen® II’s active ingredient is all-natural, GMO-free, and is the only ripening fluid approved by both the US EPA and the UK HSE Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD).

For those looking to accurately measure ethylene levels within their ripening facility, the company recommends the F-900 Portable Ethylene Analyzer as an economical, yet precise, solution. Using two electrochemical sensors, the F-900 measures ethylene from 0-200 ppm with a lower detection limit of 0.025 parts-per-million (ppm). The patent pending “PolarCept” filter removes polar hydrocarbons from the gas stream to ensure that measurements are not polluted by interfering gases such as ethanol.

Fresh Produce Instruments can be found at Fruit Logistica Hall 1.2 / D-12 in Berlin, Germany 5-7 February 2020.
