Yannick Moinnereau, Select Fruit:

New French apple supply for export

The company Select Fruit offers French apples and pears to its international clients all year round. The fruits are marketed under the company’s own brand. At Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Select Fruit will present three innovations: in packaging, cultivation methods, as well as a varietal innovation.

A new variety
Select Fruit will attend the fair in Berlin to present a new apple variety to its clients. “We cannot mention the name of this variety yet, but we can already say that it has unique characteristics. It is very rich in antioxidants, for example,” reports Yannick Moinnereau, founder of the brand. She adds that the apple will be presented to the clients in a confidential manner. “It must remain an exclusive product.”

Besides this new variety, Select Fruit will present an organic supply of apples and pears for export. For the pear, it is the club variety “Xenia”.

New color for the brand
The organic fruits will be packed in a green packaging to make the distinction with conventional fruits. Those are packed in a new blue-white-red packaging, from the colors of the French flag.

Conventional and organic 13-kg trays

The apples and pears are available in packages of different formats. “We have the standard bushel, the compact bushel and the bushel specially for large export. And then, we have the large format bushel for exports outside of Europe.”

Agroecology
For the second year in a row, Select Fruit will present to the visitors their cultural approach, “Agroecology according to Select Fruit”. “It is a very innovative orchard approach, respectful of the environment, working with nature instead of against nature. In France, eco-friendly production methods already are very important. We think that in the coming years, the topic will gain even more importance at the international level, but it is still too early to tell.”
