Interko goes for new look in Berlin

Interko, the designer, manufacturer and installer of the world's most advanced fruit ripening rooms, will unveil a fresh and stylish exhibition stand at Fruit Logistica 2020 to illustrate better the scope of the Dutch company’s technology.

On 5-7 February in Berlin, Germany, the modernised stand will showcase the broad capabilities of Interko’s range of ripening rooms – from at-source to end-market fruit ripening, plus citrus de-greening.

Interko’s Managing Director/Partner, Chris Maat, comments: “The new stand is superior in every way! The improved appearance of our stand reflects our desire to maintain Interko's professional image on the global stage.”

Located once again in Hall 1.2, D-12, Interko invites any fresh fruit retailer, importer, wholesaler or grower-exporter to visit the stand to visualise on screen how Interko’s technologies, which consume no more energy than necessary, can lower operating costs and raise profitability.

Chris Maat explains: “The world is moving beyond just ripening bananas! We want to share the many capabilities of our ripening rooms – they can ripen avocados or pears on arrival for ready-to-eat fruit; or ripen apricots at the source to improve fruit quality; and ripen fruits for processing into frozen smoothie mixes before export. Our Ultimo and Optimo rooms can even be adapted for de-greening lemons or oranges at the source to reduce rejections on arrival.

“Interko is unique on the global marketplace. We are the world’s leading and longest-serving fresh fruit ripening room provider, and, as such, we benefit from over 50 years of experience in the post-harvest handling and ripening of fruit.”

Representing the team in Berlin this year will be Interko’s Managing Director/Partner Chris Maat; Senior Business Development Manager, Anna Zegveld; Project Manager, Narcís Guinart; Commercial Office Coordinator, Dan Miller, and newly appointed Project Manager Cyanne Pawirotaroeno.

Anticipating a busy schedule, Interko advises visitors to schedule an appointment to avoid disappointment.

Calling Latin America
At Fruit Logistica 2020, Interko is keen to target the potential to expand its business in Latin America, after identifying a gap in the market.

Maat explains: “As Latin America responds to global consumer demand for high quality fruit from both the export and the domestic markets, new fruit businesses are emerging, commercial fruit production is increasing, and some countries are diversifying their fruit supply. Importantly, Latin American operators are looking to add value to their offer.

“This is where Interko is well positioned to offer support. Our turn-key Optimo ripening room, specifically, would suit Latin American operators, including those looking to establish at-source ripening. As such, we wish to raise our profile among Latin American suppliers, and to build personal relationships with the right connections.”

Although headquartered in the Netherlands, Interko benefits from a global team with multiple language skills, including a native Spanish speaker, Narcís Guinart. Managing Director/Partner Chris Maat speaks Spanish also.
