Lake Constance relies on responsible farming with Swing®

At the Fruit Logistica 2020 in Berlin, the Red Moon® Company, brand and variety owner, welcomes a new partner for the scab resistant variety Xeleven Swing®. After the South Tyrolean company Gebrüder Clementi, the French Gerfruit (Swing.Bio), the Swiss company Tobi See Obst AG and the Australian N&A Group, there is another top-class partner in the club. More than 100 hectares are already planted in Europe, the master plan points at 200.

The CEO of Mabo, Dr. Egon Treyer, Rainer Wielatt of Salemfrucht and Klaus Dubenkrop (Seefrucht) are excited about Swing®:

"We are convinced of several aspects. The variety has been extensively tested, was successful with the first critical quantity on the market in 2018/19; and also at recent tests at consumer fairs, with the first German fruits, Xeleven has shown its value. The consumer loves the taste and crunch of Swing® and is enthusiastic about the long shelf life. But Swing® also scores in production with sustainable and responsible farming. The club pursues a vision that optimally combines with ours: to produce as close as possible to nature. With Swing® we are expanding our range with another TOP variety. The professional guys of KIKU give confidence, indeed we have been working together successfully with KIKU for more than a decade. We complement a great team and are convinced that we can make a significant contribution to the success of Swing®. With KIKU Variety Management we have a partner at our side who also has the necessary experience in promotion and communication.”

Jürgen Braun, CEO of KIKU Variety Management adds: „Mabo, Salemfrucht and Seefrucht have been a long-term partner already for KIKU®. We have a loyal successful partner on board and we are looking forward to pursue our vision together. Our KIKU® experience shows that partnerships and collaborations are fruitful. When we took over the management of Swing® we immediately aimed for like minded, ethic and trustful Partners. In Europe we drawn up a master plan of 200 hectares and more than 100 have already been planted. For Australia, the N&A Group is responsible for 100 ha. Apart of the numbers, the quality of our partners is outstanding: Swing® sets strong signals, we want to capture consumers by close-to-nature production, planting flower meadows, promoting biodiversity and respecting waters. It is not enough to have a super apple and a strong brand. The consumer questions the production and we want to be proactive.”
