Australia: Bushfire recovery BBQ and orchard walk at Batlow

On Wednesday evening, 29 January, the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries and supporting agencies will hold a Bushfire Recovery Orchard Walk and BBQ at Batlow. Fire impacted growers and their key orchard staff are invited to attend. The event will include introductions to representatives of the NSW DPI Rural Resilience Program, NSW Rural Assistance Authority, and the NSW Rural Financial Counselling Service.

In addition, Horticultural Consultant Marcel Veens and NSW DPI’s Kevin Dodds will lead an informal orchard walk where participants will have the opportunity to meet with other growers and discuss the fire impact and strategies for recovery. It is a great opportunity for growers to come together, support one another and share their ideas for the challenges ahead.

Eligibility for NSW bushfire grants
Eligible primary producers from NSW who have been impacted by bushfire are encouraged to apply for this grant. The Federal Government criteria for the $75,000 Special Disaster Grants are now available on the NSW RAA website. Other states are expected to follow.
