Vegetable handling equipment manufacturer, Tong Engineering, is building on a year of significant growth, with the announcement of two new directors, and two new appointments within its sales & projects departments.

Following a strong year for sales of the company’s industry-leading vegetable grading and washing solutions in 2019, 2020 is set to be a milestone year for the company, with a new state-of-the-art Tong production facility scheduled for completion in the Spring, whilst the company also marks 90 years since its engineering roots first began, back in 1930.

“We had an exceptionally busy year in 2019 and we have some very exciting times ahead of us,” says Edward Tong, Managing Director at Tong Engineering. “Our latest appointments have been made in line with our growth objectives; so that we can continue to grow and build our business upon strong and dependable partnerships with our customers, employees and suppliers, whilst exploring new markets and opportunities for growth.”

Tong Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Martin as Operations Director, and Teresa Morgan as Finance Director, both of which will enhance continuity and expertise across the Board.

Neil started his career at the company as Buyer, when Tong acquired Peal Engineering in 2005. During his time at Tong, Neil has progressed through the business, gaining a deep understanding of the company’s visions and values, as well as the industry’s ongoing requirements, making him perfectly placed to ensure the customer remains at the heart of Tong’s strategy and operations as the business expands.

“Becoming a director of such an established and respected company that maintains long-standing family values is an honour and a privilege,” said Neil, previously Head of Operations. “Having worked at Tong, and formerly Peal, for a combined 34 years, I am looking forward to increased involvement in the direction of the company as we continue to grow as a world-class manufacturer of advanced equipment.”

Newly appointed Finance Director, Teresa Morgan, joined Tong in 2015 as Head of Finance. Over the past 5 years, Teresa has conducted all financial aspects of the business, and brings strong analytical and commercial attributes to the ongoing growth of Tong.

“Like Neil, I am delighted to become a director in a very exciting period of growth and innovation,” said Teresa. “I look forward to focussing on the overall direction of Tong, ensuring continued financial strength to secure delivery of the company’s ambitions.”

Edward adds; “We are delighted to welcome Teresa and Neil to our board of Directors. Both are highly regarded in their respective fields and we look forward to their continued commitment to our strategic vision and growing customer base.”

Alongside the new directorships, Gavin Barnes joins Tong as Project Manager. Gavin, who previously worked at Tong for over 8 years before broadening his engineering expertise outside of the vegetable industry, has returned to Tong to further strengthen the company’s dedicated project management team in overseeing complex and large-scale projects.

Tong has also boosted its sales team with the appointment of a new Sales Manager, Peter Stocks. Peter joins Tong’s existing sales force, helping to drive sales of the company’s wide range of equipment in both UK and export markets. He joins Tong with over 8 years of experience in the vegetable handling industry, during which time he has gained a broad understanding of the ongoing needs and demands associated with high quality vegetable production and processing. Peter will be working closely with new and existing Tong customers to realise their handling requirements from field to pack.

“The new year has seen some very progressive new appointments and additions to our growing team,” confirmed Edward. “I am very confident that these new roles will be invaluable to our success throughout 2020 and beyond.”
